Introduction

In our mission to support parents and schools in preparing children for the digital future, we (Skillsome, “us” or “our”) collect and use information about you when you use our products and services.

This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you visit our website (the “Site”), regardless of your location. If we change our privacy practices, we may update this privacy policy.

Why we process your information

We generally process your information when we need to do so to fulfill a contractual obligation (for example, to process your subscription to use Skillsome platform), or where we or someone we work with needs to use your personal information for a reason related to their business (for example, to provide
you with a service). Laws in the European Economic Area (“EEA”) and in the United Kingdom (“UK”) call
these reasons “legitimate interests.” These “legitimate interests” include:

● preventing risk and fraud
● answering questions or providing other types of support
● providing and improving our products and services
● providing reporting and analytics
● testing out features or additional services

We may also process your personal information where you have provided your consent. In particular, where we cannot rely on an alternative legal basis for processing, where you direct us to transfer information to a third party, or where we are required by law to ask for your consent (including in the context of some of our sales and marketing activities e.g. when applying to our waitlist to be a tester of our products and services or when participating in our Google Forms surveys). At any time, you have a right to withdraw your consent by changing your communication choices, opting out from our communications or by contacting us.

In Singapore, the data protection law requires us to obtain your consent before we collect, use, disclosure and store personal information about you, except where there is an exception to the requirement for consent. For example, we do not need consent to process personal data to respond to an emergency that threatens someone’s life, health or safety.

Your rights over your information

Privacy laws provide certain rights to users in certain jurisdictions. Some or all of the below rights may be available to you under applicable laws.

Access and Portability
You have the right to know, and request access to, the personal information we collect, use, share, or otherwise process about you. To exercise these rights, please contact us at [email protected].

Rights to Rectify, Restrict, and Delete
You have the right to rectify, restrict, or delete personal information, including by requesting that we correct (rectify) where inaccurate, restrict, or delete your personal information on your behalf. Note that these requests are subject to certain limitations, for example, we may retain personal information as permitted by law, such as for tax or other record keeping purposes, to process transactions and facilitate customer requests, and for certain other business purposes.
After we receive and validate your deletion request, we will delete your personal information, as well as
direct our service providers to delete your personal information, unless an exception applies.

Right to Object
Where we process your information based on our legitimate interests, as explained in this privacy policy, you can object to this processing under certain circumstances. In such cases, we will cease processing your information unless we have compelling legitimate grounds to continue processing or where it is needed for legal reasons. You can also object to processing of your information for direct marketing emails at any time.

Right to Revoke Consent
To the extent we rely on your consent to engage in certain processing, you have the right to withdraw that consent. We may continue to process your information if we have a separate legal basis to do so (for instance, to comply with a court order) or if your withdrawal of consent was limited to certain processing activities.

Right to Complain
You may raise a concern about our use of your information (and without prejudice to any other rights you may have) by contacting us at [email protected]. Regarding the right to complain, you may also report concerns to your local data protection supervisory authority.

Where we send your information

We are a Singapore-based company, but we work with and process data about individuals across the world. To operate our business, we may send your personal information outside of your state, province, or country. This data may be subject to the laws of the countries where we send it. We take steps to protect your information when we send your information across borders.

How long do we retain your information

We will retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which we have collected it. To determine the appropriate retention period, we consider the amount, nature and sensitivity of your personal data, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of your personal data, the purposes for which we process your personal data and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means and the applicable legal requirements. We will also retain and use your personal information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our policies.

How we protect your information

We take security of your personal information seriously. We have appropriate security measures in place to prevent your personal information being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorized way, altered or disclosed. We limit access to your personal data to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business ‘need to know’. They will process your personal information only based on our instructions. We have procedures in place to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and any competent supervisory authority of an actual or suspected personal data breach where we are required by law to do so.

Transfers outside of Europe and Switzerland

If you are located in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, your personal information may be sent to other locations and to service providers who may be located in other regions, including Singapore (where we are based) and the United States. When we send your personal information outside of the EEA, UK or Switzerland, we do so in accordance with applicable law, e.g by concluding appropriate Standard
Contractual Clauses.Transfers outside of Europe and Switzerland
